FIS ROLLERSKI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2002

The rollerski world championships at the foot of Cervino

Valle d’Aosta will host the next rollerski world championships scheduled between the end of August and September. In the week of scheduled competitions, the best performers of this sport will challenge each other on the streets of the Monte Cervino mountain community.

They call it the "cross country ski on wheels" because the cross country skiers perform it during the summer or during their training without snow, but rollerski has its precise identity and, as far as its competitive part is concerned, it has some features which makes it a unique sport.
Italy is the nation which has the most important competitive traditions in this field both for athletes who had won titles and for competitions quality. Among these one of the most prestigious competitions in the rollerski field was the Cervino Superroll which this year has been replaced by the world championships. Considering the great management of Valle d’Aosta organizers, FIS (Italian Sky Federation) has assigned them the organization of the 2002 world championships rollerski.

From August 27th date of the opening cerimony which will be held in Sain-Vincent, to Sunday September 1st a lot of competitions will take place in some resorts at the foot of Cervino, awarding world titles to all the categories forseen from the international regulations for men and women.
The competitions program is the most spectacular you could find for a beautiful sport such as rollerski: from the breathtaking sprint to the pursuit competitions, including also the relay races.

Italy is an absolute leader in the rollerski world and the Scandinavian countries as well as Germany and Holland have always had a great respect for our athletes, who are considered the opponents to be defeated.
By the end of August will see an invasion of atheletes from all around the world and Valle d’Aosta will welcome them and all the people who would like to spend a week full of sport and turism.
